Prerequisite

Basics of formal genetics and molecular biology.

Content

  • Population genetics (linkage disequilibrium, genetic drift and population evolution).
  • Cross-breeding plans and genetic mapping. Mechanisms of genome evolution.
  • Introduction to quantitative genetics and modalities of study of complex traits.
  • The genetic bases of the domestication of cultivated plants.
  • Genetic resources and their interest in plant improvement.

Format

Lectures to address concepts and definitions. Practicals and Tutorials of genetic mapping and QTL research. Supervised bibliographic workshop. Organization of a visit to a research laboratory such as the Institute of Plant Sciences Paris-Saclay (IPS2) and the Quantitative Genetics and Evolution lab (GQE-Le Moulon) or to the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle (MNHN).
